Support for Teens, College Students, and Adults Who Feel Disconnected, Stuck, or Emotionally Exhausted

Depression doesn’t always look like deep sadness. Sometimes it shows up as irritability, emotional numbness, or just going through the motions. You might be holding it all together on the outside—getting things done, showing up for others—while quietly feeling like something inside you is missing, off, or too heavy to name.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, and begin moving toward a life that feels more connected and true to you.

How Depression Might Show Up

You might be struggling with:

  • Low energy, fatigue, or the sense that everything takes more effort than it should

  • Trouble concentrating or feeling mentally foggy

  • A critical inner voice that tells you you're not doing enough or being enough

  • Disconnection from friends, partners, or things you used to enjoy

  • A constant feeling of being stuck, lost, or out of alignment with yourself

  • Thoughts like, "What’s wrong with me?" or "Why can’t I just feel better?"

Depression can make it hard to remember who you were before things felt this heavy. It can also make it hard to imagine who you could become. Therapy can help you reconnect with your emotional world and begin to feel more fully alive again.

A Psychodynamic and CBT-Informed Approach to Depression

My approach blends the insight of psychodynamic therapy with the practical tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). We won’t just focus on the symptoms; we’ll explore the emotional patterns, beliefs, and relational dynamics that may be driving how you feel.

From a psychodynamic perspective, we look at the “why.” Together, we might explore how past experiences shaped your self-image, where self-criticism began, or what roles you've learned to play in relationships. This process can help bring unconscious patterns into awareness so that you have more freedom and choice in how you respond to life now.

At the same time, I use CBT to help you notice the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We’ll work on gently challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, increasing self-compassion, and creating structure that supports energy and motivation.

In Therapy, You Can Learn To:

  • Work with self-critical or hopeless thoughts

  • Understand emotional patterns with curiosity instead of judgment

  • Reconnect with your sense of meaning, identity, and worth

  • Build routines that support your mental and physical well-being

  • Strengthen relationships and practice asking for support

  • Move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and more like your own

You don’t have to force yourself to "get back to normal." Together, we’ll work toward something more meaningful—building awareness, insight, and new ways of being that support long-term change.
