Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety Therapy in Atlanta and Online Across Georgia
Helping Pre-Teens, Teens, and Adults Understand Their Anxiety and Move Toward a Life That Feels More Free
Anxiety can show up in ways that are easy to miss. You might look like you have it all together from the outside — staying busy, keeping up with responsibilities, achieving your goals. But inside, you feel tense, overwhelmed, or like you're constantly falling short. Therapy for anxiety is about more than learning how to "calm down." It's about understanding where your anxiety comes from and what it's trying to protect you from, so you can stop living in reaction mode and start living in alignment with what truly matters to you.
How Anxiety Shows Up
You may be dealing with anxiety if you:
Overthink conversations or decisions, long after they're over
Struggle with perfectionism or fear of failure
Feel constant pressure to achieve, but rarely feel satisfied
Experience physical symptoms like muscle tension, nausea, or racing thoughts
Avoid situations, relationships, or decisions out of fear
Have a hard time relaxing or feeling fully present
Anxiety isn’t just about being “nervous.” It’s often tied to deeper patterns — ways you've learned to stay safe, earn approval, or make sense of an unpredictable world. In therapy, we explore those patterns with curiosity and compassion.
A Psychodynamic and ACT-Informed Approach to Anxiety
My approach to anxiety therapy is both insight-oriented and action-oriented. Drawing from psychodynamic therapy, we’ll look at the roots of your anxiety — where certain fears or beliefs began, how they’ve shaped your relationships and self-perception, and how they might be playing out in your current life. This kind of reflective work helps you connect the dots and develop more awareness of what’s going on beneath the surface.
At the same time, I use principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you learn how to respond to your anxiety differently. You don’t have to eliminate anxious thoughts or feelings to live a meaningful life. Instead, we’ll work on building the tools to notice your thoughts without being ruled by them, take actions that align with your values, and develop a gentler relationship with your inner world.
Common Themes in Anxiety Therapy
In our work together, we might explore:
The inner critic and where it came from
Core beliefs about your worth, success, or role in relationships
How anxiety shows up in your body and what it might be communicating
The “rules” you live by, and whether they’re still serving you
How to stop avoiding and start moving toward what matters
This isn’t a space for surface-level advice or generic coping skills. It’s a space to slow down, understand yourself more deeply, and build lasting change from the inside out.
