Therapy for Adolescents in Buckhead and Online Across Georgia

Helping Teens Navigate Anxiety, Family or Friendship Stressors, and Big Emotions with Compassion and Clarity

Adolescence is a time of rapid growth and change. It can be exciting and full of potential, but also confusing, overwhelming, and at times painful. You may notice your teen pulling away from you, becoming more irritable, anxious, or distant. Maybe they seem exhausted by the pressure to succeed, or they’re caught in constant self-doubt and comparison.

As a parent, it can feel heartbreaking to see your child struggle and not know how to help. You want to be their safe place, but sometimes it feels like nothing you say lands in the way you hope it will.

Therapy can give your teen something incredibly valuable: a space that is just for them, where they can speak freely, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what they’re experiencing.

Common Reasons Teens Start Therapy

  • Anxiety or chronic overthinking

  • Perfectionism and fear of failure

  • Withdrawing from family or friends

  • Low self-esteem or harsh self-criticism

  • Identity and self-worth concerns

  • Academic pressure and burnout

  • Difficulty managing emotions or stress

  • Conflict in friendships or at home

  • Panic attacks or physical symptoms like nausea or fatigue

  • Social comparison and pressure from social media

Even high-achieving teens who seem “fine” from the outside often carry a quiet sense of not-enoughness on the inside.

How I Work With Teens

Teen therapy isn’t about lectures or quick fixes. It’s about creating a space where your teen feels seen and safe enough to be honest. When teens feel respected and not judged, they open up. That’s where the healing begins.

I use a relational and psychodynamic approach to help teens explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that are shaping their inner world. We talk about what’s going on underneath the surface—why they’re so anxious in social settings, why they snap at their parents, or why they can’t stop comparing themselves to others.

Along the way, I also integrate practical tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), depending on your teen’s needs. These skills can help with emotion regulation, mindfulness, self-compassion, and navigating everyday stressors.

Our goal isn’t just symptom relief. It’s helping your teen feel more at home in themselves and more confident in how they move through the world.

Supporting Parents Along the Way

I believe in supporting the whole family system. While your teen is my primary focus in sessions, I also offer periodic check-ins and collaboration with you, depending on your teen’s comfort and developmental stage. These conversations help you better understand what your teen is going through and how you can support their growth outside of the therapy room.
